This project explores the idea of bringing of many different things into productive relationships is fundamental to the process of architectural design. The relations that will be investigated are, again, those between different kinds of human situations, between the physical elements of the site, between the material and spatial forms of the architecture, and between all of these major factors. The site is between the Main Walkway and the Blockhouse near the main entrance of the UNSW campus.

This project requires the accommodation of:
Gallery activities: For the display of work by UNSW undergraduate and postgraduate students. On a rotational basis, each of the eight Sydney-based Faculties (Art & Design, Arts and Social Sciences, Built Environment, Business School, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Science) will have two three-week periods per year to display their finest student work. The gallery aims to showcase the academic excellence, social engagement and creativity of UNSW students. The space(s) must be able to accommodate several presentation modes, which will vary with each exhibition. These include 1850mm wide x 1000mm high (minimum size) digital screens, artworks, posters, drawings, models. All unused display equipment will be stored in the Blockhouse. Approximately 60 square metres in floor area.
Café activities: The café should be approximately 40 square metres internally with another 40 square metres of exterior space. The main food preparation occurs in the kitchen in the Tyree Building. The café’s service space is approximately 16 square metres
